Stores in or near Grand Case, St. Martin/Sint Maarten
One of the great things about planning a Caribbean vacation at the Grand Case Beach Club in St. Martin is you have complete freedom about how to plan your meals. Eat authentic Caribbean cuisine within walking distance from our hotel at fantastic restaurants blending local and French sensibilities, as well as wonderful and unique lolos offering road-side fare. On the other hand, if you’re looking to not only stick to a budget but also experience authentic St. Martin cuisine, and enjoy a unique siteseeing experience, there’s nothing better than going shopping at local stores. Here are a few near our hotel. Magasin du Pont in Grand Case Magasin du Pont in Grand Case is an excellent supermarket selling both local foods and French staples, such as cheeses, baguettes and wine. Don’t forget to check out the excellent chocolate section. Le Bounty Le Bounty is a gourmet food “mini-supermarket” that offers tasty pre-prepared dishes, with a different selection every day. Boulangerie “Boulangeries” or bakeries are the mainstay of French life, and also assumed a prized place in the hearts of St. Martin’s residents. There’s nothing like stepping out early in the morning to pick up fresh-baked baguettes or croissants – your children will love them! There are several boulangeries on the main street where you can buy fresh-baked bread throughout day. Match Supermarket and Le Colibri in Marigot Just a short car drive away in Marigot, there’s a gigantic Match supermarket. Close by is Le Colibri, a small patisserie and green grocer on Rue du General de Gaulle, which serves as Marigot’s high street. Le Colibri is a great place to grab a snack or lunch, or just waste some time in the time-honored Gallic tradition. Le Saint Germain, another patisserie in the Marina, is also good for this. On the Dutch side, bigger is better The biggest supermarkets, though, are on the Dutch side near Pillipsburg, and slightly cheaper. If you are wanting to buy good coffee beans, creamer, suger and some meats, cheeses, bread to make breakfast and lunch rather than have to eat out, is it worth it to go to Grand Marche when you drive from the airport to Grand Case, on the Union Road in Cole Bay near the border.
