St. Maarten Beach - Orient Beach

There are many St Maarten beach areas that are sure to delight all travelers. They are great in number and each is distinctively attractive. Those on the French side tend to be more secluded and more conducive to quiet contemplation and privacy. Some are hugged by rugged cliffs and dramatic landscapes, while others are gently shaded by palm trees. This is especially true on St. Maarten / St. Martin. You will find them with waves high enough for surfers, and calm ones for the small kids. One thing they all have in common, they are clean, the sand is white, and the sea is crystal clear. So while you are vacationing on the island, try to visit as many as you can! The island has 36 beaches, each with its own distinct atmosphere. Those on the French side tend to be more secluded and more conducive to quiet contemplation and privacy. Many of the hotels have their own stretch of St. Martin beach, but the ones that are more difficult to get to are especially worth exploring. Some are hugged by rugged cliffs and dramatic landscapes, while others are gently shaded by palm trees. The beach at Grand Case is alive with local culture and like the Anse Marcel tends to be a favorite with families.
Orient Beach is particularly enticing for its wide expanse of velvety white sand, its underwater marine reserve with a coral reef that is great for snorkeling, and the variety of water sports that are offered here. At one end there is a naturist resort, and the beach there is purely clothing-optional. In general, the attitudes toward topless bathing are fairly relaxed and sophisticated in St. Martin. There is one part of Orient Beach which is reserved for naturists.
Grand Case - the gastronomic capital of St. Martin - Along this long, narrow stretch of beach you will find some of the clearest Caribbean blue waters around. If you are looking for that "laid back" beach, Grand Case has what you are searching for. Spend a great day with perfectly calm waters, basking in the warm Caribbean sun and eating some of the best foods you will find in the Caribbean. Then, after your leisurely day on the beach, check out any of the over 30 restaurants that line the main street of Grand Case. Some of our favorites are L'Auberge Gourmande, Little France, Hibiscus and for pizza, Portifino up at the end of the street is great.
